Location of Museum of the Horse Tuxford
We are very easy to find, Tuxford is on the side of the A1 in North Nottinghamshire 14 miles north of Newark and 20 miles south of Doncaster.
The museum is the biggest white building in the village. If you look on Google maps unfortunately it still shows the building boarded up as it was three years ago but we are very much open!
Our nearest railway station is Retford, main line from King's Cross, London and ten minutes by taxi to Tuxford.
Car parking is easy. We have a large car park behind the museuhm accessed off Newcastle Street at the side of the museum. You can enter the museum via the courtyard and the gallery.
Sadly until we can find sponsorship we only have disabled facilities in the commercial gallery downstairs. The museum objects can be seen on a screen in this part of the building.
There is a good coffee shop on the premises which serves excellent Pannini, or baked potatoes with salad and a choice of homemade cakes.
As a private museum with no funding we have to make a small entrance charge as follows;
- Adults £4 each
- Children and OAPs £2
- Children under 6 free.
- Parties of 10 or more by arrangement.
- Lecture tours from £40
